It was exciting to be invited to apply for an internship at Mindhive through Ribit. I’m very happy in my new position at Mindhive which has allowed me to extend myself, share my ideas and apply my skills.

I immediately loved the diverse range of jobs since they catered to far more interesting and cutting-edge work than your typical uni job board. The job descriptions didn’t put you off immediately with a long list of extensive pre-requisites and demands for years and years of experience in the field as is often common these days.

What kinds of students find jobs through Ribit?
There is strong demand for students from software, engineering, computer science, IT, business and marketing disciplines. However, regardless of your degree, many companies are seeking translatable skill sets such as coding, market research and analysis, planning and strategy, reporting, presentations, digital marketing and written communications etc.
I’m not in my final year, can I still apply?
For sure! The Ribit marketplace has opportunities for both students and graduates. Your knowledge and experience doesn’t necessarily correlate with how many years of Uni you have completed. Our employers are looking to engage with students at all stages including part-time jobs and internships.
What kind of companies are advertising roles on Ribit?
Ribit is designed for employers looking for early stage talent ranging from first year students to grads with a few years of experience. We include most industries across Australia and all sizes from innovative start-ups, fast growth scale-ups to medium and large business.
I’m an international student. Am I still able to apply for jobs and internships?
Please make sure you are aware of the working conditions for student visa holders.
How do I set up job notifications?
You will automatically receive a weekly jobs notification when any new jobs have been posted that match your profile (skills, location, job type).
If you would like to receive additional job notifications, such as for different skills, or as a daily email instead, simply head to the jobs page and use the search function to filter jobs by location, skills, types, and/or area. Once you’ve selected your filters, “click save as search alert.”
Give your search alert a name and set the frequency (Daily or Weekly), then click “Save.”
Course Credit FAQs
We have recently introduced a new role type, Course Credit, to the ribit.net marketplace which aims to provide students with a placement opportunity. The roles allow students to apply the theory and skills they have gained while studying, and gain valuable workplace experience as a requirement of their educational program (e.g. industrial training) or a work-integrated learning course.
Click through our FAQs to learn more, or feel free to reach out to us at support@ribit.net
What is a course credit role?
On ribit.net, the role type course credit refers to a (often unpaid) learning opportunity which is completed as a requirement of a course offered by your educational institute or as a requirement of your program (such as industrial training for engineers). You must seek approval for these roles before applying to ensure they qualify for the specific course you are enrolled in and that they provide a substantial learning opportunity relevant to that course.
Are course credit roles paid?
In most cases, course credit roles do not offer compensation (such as a wage or salary). At the discretion of the employer, they may however offer some form of stipend or additional benefit, such as travel costs or meals during the term of the placement. These roles are designed as a learning opportunity for students to apply the theory and skills they have gained while studying. For more information please consult your educational institute’s website for work integrated learning or the Fair Work Ombudsman unpaid work factsheet.
Can anyone apply for a course credit role?
Course credit roles have specific requirements in order to qualify. Firstly, you must be currently enrolled in a Australian authorised educational institute or university. You must also be enrolled in a relevant course or program at that institute where work-integrated learning is a requirement. If you are not sure if this applies to you, please consult your university’s work-integrated learning policy before applying.
How long do course credit roles last?
Typically a course credit role will be offered in conjunction with learning material provided during your semester. Because of this, course credit roles can last up to around 14 weeks. Some educational institutions will allow you to complete multiple work-integrated learning opportunities to meet the required hours and experience, so course credit roles can also be as short as 4 weeks.
Why would I be interested in a course credit role?
There are numerous, well-documented benefits to participating in a work-integrated learning program. Students often finish the program having developed ‘soft’ graduate capabilities such as team work, communication, leadership, awareness and understanding of workplace culture, while obtaining practical experience and skills. A work-integrated learning experience can also be extremely valuable in your career progression, allowing you to enter the workforce earlier and/or more prepared.
How do I find a course credit role?
Our first recommendation would be to consult your educational institute’s work-integrated learning policy to ensure your program has a requirement to complete a placement, or that you are eligible to enrol in a course with a work-integrated learning component.
Once you’re ready to start looking, head to your ribit.net account and change the preferences in the work details section:
This will let us know to update your notification preferences, and start recommending you to employers posting course credit roles!
You can also search for course credit roles using the ‘types’ filter when searching for jobs.
When you’ve found a role you wish to apply for, you will need to contact the relevant university supervisor for your program to ensure the role is suitable before applying. We’ve made this easier by introducing a “send to my supervisor” function, which will directly email your supervisor all the role’s details along with a personalised message from you.
Only when your supervisor confirms you are approved to apply can you submit an application. From here, the application process is the as for any other role.
